Bathing means cleanness… most of us associate the colour white with this. This tone is becoming popular again, and is used all over the homes including the bathrooms. However it is not the good ol’ simple 20x20 gloss white hospital tiles that should pop in our minds. Nowadays we can choose from several different size, pattern and surface textures. They are available in sizes ranging from single mosaic pieces to large slabs of 60x60 with striped or flower patterned, gloss or flat surfaces, both in modern or classical style. Used in itself, white tiles create an overly sterile atmosphere, and so using them in the now fashionable combination of black-white reflecting an atmosphere of elegance is more than advisable. This is a new hit of the classical line, while is more and more often used for the creation of more modern style as well. We should not shrink back from using white in combination with vibrant colours, like any tones of the nowadays trendy purple, green, or red creating a youthful and spirited environment. As if Spring itself arrived in our bathrooms! It could, however, be advisable to choose some darker colour for the floor tiling, facilitating the cleaning and providing a solid base for the whole room. Decorative pieces and tiles are necessary complements of the tiles surface functioning not only as decorative pieces but also as borders between blocks of tiles used for emphasizing a single detail for example. It is advisable to pick the decoration pieces offered with the same range as the tiles themselves, or at least from products of the same manufacturer as that of the base tile; this way it is possible to avoid any differences in style and quality. One detail however must always be taken into account. White and white are more often than not different from each other. The colours of our sanitary-wares will never match that of the tiles perfectly and so, comparing them to each other is completely pointless. However, since we tend to consider a room as a whole, we are very likely never to spot the difference. |
